The adapter's functional units are allocated on different controllers. 
The network controller is represented by the XaQti XQ11800FP chip 
(XaQti is now part of Vitesse Semiconductor),
the PHY controller by GigaPHY Am79761, 
and the controller of the PCI bus by SysKonnect Gigabit Ethernet L5A9338. 
The adapter has two ports, hence two network controllers and two PHY controllers onboard.
